Hi there,
We are the Moodys, Jeremy (dad), Sarah (mom), and our boys from oldest to youngest, Joey, Jonathan, and Justin. Sarah and I were high school sweethearts and married back in 1994. Now, 12+ years later have three great boys and are heading to the Philippines! Well, that's the short version anyway.
We spent the early years of our marriage in Newberg, working, going to church, generally being a young married couple with little responsibility. In 1998, we began helping with the youth group at Victory Fellowship, our church in Carlton. That is also the year when Sarah first visited the Philippines to see some high school friends who had moved there. We decided to go back there together in 1999 and spend a month visiting a few missionary friends and also making our first visit to Faith Academy. We had applied to Faith Academy to be boarding home parents and stopped by the campus to introduce ourselves and see the area. We did not fit their needs at that time, so we moved on.
In 2000, we purchased our first house, next door to our church in Carlton, Oregon. In the summer of 2001, we had our first son, Joey. Now a content little family we continued to be active in our church. We were also involved in our community with the fire department and city government. In 2004, Jonathan arrived, as did my mom. Due to some health and financial issues, she became a member of our growing family.
Early in 2005, we began to attend Newberg Foursquare Church, and that fall, we moved to a house back in Newberg that was big enough for all of us. Much of the next year was devoted to helping my mom as she had more health problems than we care to remember. Then at the end of 2006, along came our littlest, Justin.
That pretty much brings us up to 2007, which as been a whirlwind year. My mom's issues behind her, we could now refocus our energy. Sarah and I purposed to become more involved with the people of our church and to find what God would have for us. I started meeting with a group of men going through a book called Chasing Daylight. I was challenged to find where God would use us. The premise of the book is to be active in what God would have for your life as opposed to waiting for Him to let you know, to get in motion, and then let Him direct that motion. Well the motion Sarah and I decided on was to reconnect with Faith Academy. After a few emails back and forth, they asked if we would be interested in coming to serve. I flew over to visit in April, and after returning, we felt that this was indeed where God was leading us.
